Well, summer break is almost over for me.  This will most likely be my last summer break as I enter my final year of schooling at FSM.  So here were some highlights:

AFF (Antioch Forerunner Foundation) – For about two and a half weeks in July, a group of about 7 young Asian American students came to IHOP to get trained in intimacy with God and church planting.  It was a great challenge and excitement to teach them about God’s heart towards them and practicals in how to grow in relationship with God.  The students were very eager and hungry to grow and it was a lot of fun running together.

Summer small group – For most of the summer, I got the chance to lead a small group which met weekly at my house.  Around 10-12 of us met on Wednesdays to worship, talk about the Scriptures, encourage one another, and take communion.  I wanted to set up a summer community for FSM students who stayed in Kansas city over the summer.  One particular time together, we were talking about the Incarnation of Jesus, and we entered a time where the Spirit was really moving in our group and multiple people began to weep at the same time.  We were struck at the great mystery of God taking on flesh for the sake of humanity.  The times that we spent together were very precious to me.

Chicago – Lastly, I went to Chicago for 10 days to visit my mom and sister.  Man it was so fun!  We did a lot of touristy stuff like an architecture boat tour of chi-town, concerts at Millenium park, taking the Chi-town buses, and eating a lot of great food.  It was really nice just to be around family again.  What a blessing it is!  Anyways, on my bus ride back to Kansas City, I began to get homesick, and I found that to be interesting because my hometown is in LA.  But I guess home is really whenever you’re with family and close friends.

Hitting up the big C-town

This coming Saturday, me and a friend from IHOP are driving up to Chicago for spring break.  I’ll be visiting my sister who just moved out there two months ago after getting married.  I’m totally phyched to see her in a new stage in her life.  It is kind of funny that two Koreanos who grew up in LA all their life, end up in the Midwest.

But I’m looking forward to spending time with her and going to see all the cool sights.  I’m planning on going to the Art Institute of Chicago, some good pizza joints, and probably to Moody Bible Institue.  So Chicago here I come.  I’m hoping that its warmer there than the last time I was there.
