Lately, I have been meditating on the Incarnation through passages like Phil. 2:6-9 and Jn. 1.  This journey began because I realized that the picture of God in my heart is still one of a distant God, who is a bit hum drum about my existence.  So I decided to dive into one of the deepest truths about God’s nearness in the Incarnation.  Here are some of my thoughts:

1.  God identified with the plight of humanity’s suffering.  He did not just wave his hand and fix everything in a moment, but he took on flesh.  The fact that he does not just snap his fingers and fix everything shows that he does not consider the human condition to be trite.  And by taking on the human form, he restores the dignity of humanity.

2.  The Incarnation reveals that the God of Israel, YHWH, is faithful to his promises to his people.  (more…)
